On 1 June 2025, the Hanze and Canon signed a new agreement regarding Media Services.
These services include:
- Decentralized printing facilities (printers in the hallway);
- Graphic production (service desk, order portal, in-house repro and printing);
- Design (layout and DTP);
- Audiovisual media (photography, video and animation).
The new contract will take effect on 1 July 2025.
Strategic partner/collaboration
The new agreement focuses on the strategic partnership and long-term relationship between Hanze and Canon. We are working together on:
- Realising cost savings and flexibility;
- Transparent reporting and cost control;
- Continuous innovation and development of services;
- Focus on sustainability and CO2-neutral services;
- Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Lower rates for various services
With the new agreement, Hanze saves approximately 15% on total costs. More competitive rates have been agreed upon and many fixed fees have been replaced by payment per assignment.
What does this change mean for employees?
- For design and DTP, rates have been reduced by 10-20%, so design assignments are cheaper.
- For repro assignments, a starting rate per order applies. This covers basic costs such as start-up costs, administration and repro advice.
- For repro assignments, the printing costs for colour have been reduced.
Example calculation of order costs
Order costs before change:
A3 poster € 2.33
A5 flyer € 8.88
10 minutes € 8.00
Total € 19.21 (excl. VAT)
Order costs after change:
A3 poster € 2.00
A5 flyer € 8.00
Order start rate € 5.00
Handling costs A3 poster € 5.00

Total € 25.00 (excl. VAT)
The reproduction costs are therefore slightly different. In total, the costs for Hanze will be lower because the monthly fixed fee has been waived.
Tips for saving costs
- Print small jobs without finishing (stapling, binding, etc.) yourself on the hallway printer.
- Combine multiple jobs into one order. You pay the starting fee once per order.
- Merge documents before uploading them. Instead of ordering 10 separate PDFs, each of which has to be printed 10 times, you can also create one PDF (e.g. with Adobe Acrobat) and print it 10 times. Then you only pay handling costs once instead of 10 times.
